Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

Planning, picking, and booking the best Isle of Palms rental:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 103 Grand Pavilion by AvantStay
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is right for your family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

During your stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
