Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. To find the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Isle of Palms restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. WILD DUNES Home with PRIVATE POOL, Golf Views and Walk to Marina! has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More tips for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
