Our top Rental property booking tips:
When to visit Isle of Palms & When to book:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your Isle of Palms rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront 3BR, 3BTH, 2nd Floor, Beach Front IOP has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
