How to book the best Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Isle of Palms. To book the best rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Isle of Palms attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by having your family select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront 3BR, 3BTH, 2nd Floor, Beach Front IOP has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of issues.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. message the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
