Finding the best vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Prime Grand Pavilion Location! Steps from Beach, Pool, & Boardwalk! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
