Our top Isle of Palms rental booking tips:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, change your family's Isle of Palms trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Prime Grand Pavilion Location! Steps from Beach, Pool, & Boardwalk! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Isle of Palms destination you love, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
