Tips and Tricks for getting the best Isle of Palms vacation home experience:

When to book a Isle of Palms rental & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Isle of Palms area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Isle of Palms area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Finding the perfect vacation home:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Truly get away in this charming home just a short walk to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
