Our top Rental booking tips:
Getting the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. To get the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Pool + Oceanfront Views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Isle of Palms destination you long to visit, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your agreement.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
