Tips to get the very best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. PRIME Resort Location! Beachside, Ocean View, Pool Access! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Call the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
