Tricks and tips to get the optimal Isle of Palms rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Isle of Palms area. To find the best rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing a perfect Isle of Palms vacation home:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. PRIME Resort Location! Beachside, Ocean View, Pool Access! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Isle of Palms attraction you are crazy about, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or could be applied to your contract.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
