Booking the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To book the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Isle of Palms attractions and restaurants.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Planning and picking the perfectvacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 3rd Floor Oceanfront Condo!! Community Pool & Pier w\/ 1000 ft fishing pier! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
