Tricks and tips to get the perfect Isle of Palms rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Isle of Palms area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and choosing the bestrental home:
- First, have your family agree to the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Renovated, Very Modern Beach Home on Quiet Street, Close to Beach & Marina! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
- If there's an individual Isle of Palms beach you are enamored with, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
