Tips for getting the perfect Isle of Palms rental experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Isle of Palms area. To find the best value, change your family's Isle of Palms vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the perfect vacation home:
- First, have your family decide on the best dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Charming updated 2 Bedroom Beach Cottage. Walk to the Beach! Pet Friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If not, call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. text the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
