Booking the best Isle of Palms rental experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Isle of Palms area. To get the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 401 Yacht by AvantStay
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
