How to find the best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Isle of Palms area. To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Planning and choosing a perfect Isle of Palms rental:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Oceanfront
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a certain Isle of Palms destination you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
