Isle of Palms vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. THE PEARL! Newly Updated 7bd\/7ba IOP Home Private POOL & Ocean VIEWS! has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a specific Isle of Palms attraction you love, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
