Tips and Tricks for getting the best Isle of Palms rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental home:
- Summertime is high season in Isle of Palms. Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect rental in Isle of Palms:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Luxury Beach Rental! Private Pool & Hot Tub, Elevator & outdoor fireplace! has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your group.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
