Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental home:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Isle of Palms restaurants and activities.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Make a plan and choose your Isle of Palms vacation home:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
- Oceanfront View + Pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
