Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Isle of Palms area. To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefect Isle of Palms vacation home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 10B Mariners Walk, Wild Dunes has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. text the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
