Strategies for getting the best Isle of Palms rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Summer months are high season in Isle of Palms. To get the best value, change your family's Isle of Palms vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 'Villa Del Mare' ~ PRIVATE POOL\/HOT TUB, OCEAN VIEWS, ELEV! has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- If there's an individual Isle of Palms attraction you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
