Tips to get the very best vacation home experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Summertime is high season in Isle of Palms. To get the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Spacious Coastal Home with Private Pool & Close to the beach - 2 55th Ave has 10 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • If there's an individual Isle of Palms attraction you crave, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
