Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting and booking the best Isle of Palms vacation home:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Second row back from the beach, cornhole court, putting green, private pool! - 2307 Palm has 9 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
